Summary of Recent Updates

If you've been keeping up, you probably know all about the updates we pushed in the last three weeks and the discussions around them in our forums (links below). But if you haven't visited NetworkedBlogs recently, here is a quick update for you. We also pushed a few small updates today that I summarize at the end.
Why Change?
The original code for NetworkedBlogs was written a long time ago when we had few users. As time passed and the application grew, a lot of changes were made. Also, the platforms we connect with (such as Facebook and Twitter) changed a lot too. The code was extended beyond it's original design to support all these changes, but that came with a price. Fixing errors took a long time, and adding new features was really hard. In order to continue to innovate and be able to fix problems faster, we had to make big changes. And, hence, the recent updates.
This initial release was not intended to add new features, but rather to replicate most of the features we had in the old system and remove features that were rarely used to free up space for new things. We did improve the user interface, though, and tried to make it easier to use and navigate. We also introduced a few bugs as well. Not on purpose, obviously, but as you'd expect with any big update, some errors are bound to slip beyond the best testing effort. In the last two weeks, we fixed most of the errors we found or reported to us, and we're continuing to listen and fix bugs every day. If you're aware of a problem that's unsolved yet, please let us know.
List of Changes:
- Blog profiles have a new design. For example, check out the NetworkedBlogs profile. This follows our previous updates to profile pages and the welcome page.
- If you use our 'Blog' tab on your fan page, you'll notice that it has been updated as well. The update makes it easier to edit and customize the tab without having to navigate to another page. We also removed the syndication settings from the tab because they were confusing. All syndication settings can be managed from the syndication page.
- The blog directory was simplified. Some of the listings such as "popular blogs by region" and "popular blogs by company" were removed because changes in Facebook made it much harder to create proper rankings. Since these lists were rarely used, we prefer to focus our efforts on other features.
- We removed the "friends" menu because the functionality it offered is now provided by the welcome page.
- The blog registration page was improved to make adding or editing blogs easier.
- The part of the app that was served inside Facebook is now on the Website for consistency.
- If you've upgraded your blog to Premium Listing, you'll notice that the highlighting of premium blogs in the directory is gone. This is temporary. We removed it to replace it with a better system that promotes premium blogs in more places in addition to the directory to give you more exposure. Other premium benefits, such as fast feed updates and the option to upload images to your blog profile have not been changed. We want to give you more value for your money, but we also understand if you don't like the change and would like to request a refund. Just open a ticket on our help site.
The changes did not affect syndication and publishing to Facebook/Twitter (except for a few bug fixes).
And, today, we pushed a small update to fix bugs and to address some of the issue we found or were brought up to us. This includes a few style changes to make it easier to see the blog details, and to fit better for blogs with longer names. We also started showing a brief summary of blog posts on your blog profile just like it was in the old design. Other than that, no major updates, but many bug fixes.
In the next few weeks we're focused on fixing errors and filling the gaps in features. If you encounter any issue that we haven't addressed yet, please let us know on one of these forum threads:

THIS FACEBOOK SYSTEM IS NOT CAPABLE IN DELETING A PHOTO ALBUM AT MY REQUEST. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DELETE MY WEDDING PHOTO ALBUMS, BUT I GET A MESSAGE "THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN DELETING YOUR ALBUM" CAN SOMEONE FROM THIS SITE PLEASE DO SOMETHING WITH THEIR SYSTEM?

**Please read my note! I have been trying to get someone from Networked Blogs to help me and there is no way to contact them except to post a comment? PLEASE HELP ME! >>>ATTENTION BLOGGERS! Are you aware of the issues with Networked Blogs that your followers and readers are having? I was stopped at 198 follows by Network Blogs (the limit is suppose to be 200) so I went in and unfollowed some inactive blogs so I would be able to follow new ones. When I tried to follow more it would not let me! I am only following 186 blogs now and it will not allow me to follow any others! When you ask us to follow your blog via Networked Blogs for giveaway entries many of us are not able to and do not have a choice about which ones we follow once we have already hit our limit number. This is unfair and I suggest you read all the negative comments on their FB page by other bloggers and users. Following on Google Friend Connect has been no problem at all. Please reconsider using Networked Blogs for entry requirements in your blog giveaways! I have tried contacting Networked Blogs many times with no response from them. Here is the newest comment I posted on there "Support" site which is a joke because they do not get back with their users! > **I hit a limit at 198 and it would not let me follow more. Because this is a requirement on many blogs to enter their giveaways and because I want to follow more than 198 blogs this is TERRIBLE! Since I have some new friends on FB I wanted to invite them to my blogs. However, both my "Year of 5,000 Books" or my "Casa de Naomi Reflections" blog areas where it says "Invite Friends" is working. I tried refreshing them, left, came back hakf an hour later, still nothing works. I've even closed my computer and opened it once again.

Repito: Cuando entro a "Edit Blog Link", no me recibe la modificación que necesito realizar. Hay un error en el enlace a mi Blog. El único Link de Mi Blog es: www.tudigestionrespiracion.com/blog/
Mi Blog no tiene dos nombres; la relación de tags de las Entradas en Mi Blog que informan sobre qué trata mi Blog, ha capturado un hipervínculo, un link de enlace a mi Blog que es indeseable, es un error !!! Hay que suprimir ese hipervínculo a mi Blog.

Facebook is coming with something new TIMELINE... and now all the networked items are posted together at the first date of the month when I blog something... so read NO ONE is seeing any networked blogs anymore... while twitter posts are seperately... so looks like there is some work to do... to let us post networked blog speratley on our timeline and not alle together in a box...
I agree with Aline: with the new FB Timelinem Networkedblogs is useless, sadly.

Have to share my networked blogs, to get them sperate on my Time Line... and neworked blogs are not posted on the storie list only on our profile... like I said earlier there is a lot of work to do, to let people see my posts on a daily basis... they are now put togeher in a box, no-one will be seeing them, unless I share my networked post again with a comment... please fix this, I like nedworked in the past when it worked great... make it that great again...

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AT NETWORKED BLOGS BUT THE SIMPLE CHANGING OF A URL SHOULDN'T CAUSE ALL OF THESE ERRORS. I AM SITTING BACK HERE AND NOW THIS THING WON'T PULL THE FEED. IT STATES THAT MY FEED RESPONSE IS TOO LARGE. BUT WHAT GETS ME IS NETWORKED BLOGS ONLY SUPPLIES A THUMBNAIL AND AN SHORT EXCERPT!!! SO WHAT WOULD IT BOTHER THEM WHEN THEY AREN'T HOSTING THE ACTUAL FEED CONTENT. RIGHT NOW ALSO THERE IS NO THUMBNAIL FOR MY BLOG BEING DISPLAYED. I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME TO START TO LOOK FOR A NEW SERVICE WHICH DOESN'T HAVE SUCH ISSUES THEY HAVE HORRIBLE SUPPORT AND THEY DON'T ANSWER ANY OF THEIR USERS!!!
