same here...cannot get it to work just comes up as a grey plain box and when you click just says that connection not encrypted and not been verified

I'm using WordPress. I have installed the widget in the right nav. when I try to authenticate the blog I get a "need feed key" message. Help!

I concur, this is inelegant and does not work. My site does not have a right hand sidebar. I tried one that did and that did not work either. This is the most rubbish verification procedure I have ever seen. Who dreamt it up?!

yeah this is a horrible system NB uses... I install on dozens of blogs and it *never* works unless the sidebar is visible on the home page, and then only about 20% of the time. An FTP verification would be MUCH better, IMHO. FB friend verification takes forever, not reliable.

I'm having the same problem. It's hard to get friends enough friends who want to respond to the request to verify. I have three but apparently that's not good enough for the company. i may as well get rid of Networked blogs. There are other ways for them to verify who i am. If they're not willing to do that, then who needs them?!

It doesn't work, and it hasn't been fixed in many months. Clearly this is an unsupported app. Moving on!

Thanks to those who confirmed me as author of Allison's Book Bag. My blog is now part of Networked Blogs. It is also listed with me as owner.

Since this is linked to or a part of Facebook, why do we have to verify. If i already have an account, it should be good enough. Whoever set up this bogus verification should be discharged. I am having the same problem as you and am rather fed up with playing this verification game. If I am not confirmed within 36 hours, Well there are too many great blog sites; I do not need this one.

I use Wordpress. I invited friends to confirm me as author. The message was grammatically incorrect, so my friends thought the request was a hoax and all but two ignored it. Now NB will not let me send any more requests. I put the badge on my sidebar. It says nothing about confirmation (perhaps I didn't understand the instructions). I would delete the blog and try again but that isn't allowed, so I hate to take that step. However, I will probably use Wordpress's FB connection to post my blog to FB and abandon attempts to work with NB. Wordpress offers excellent support.

Here is the thing: If you can't get a response, then don't worry about it. I have the follow widget and it works fine. I haven't been confirmed eitther even though I understood that if I installed the widget I would be. So my blog continues on and is growing anyway and I note that a lot of friends from Networked Blogs are appearing on my statistics. The thing about blogs is: If you have submitted your content to Google (Blogger) then that is already a form of syndication as their crawlers will find and index your material for all the world to see--eventually. Then, you can go online to find about 20 search engines that you can submit to and that helps a lot also. And, the world can see your blog in your profile on Face Book if you have it set that way. If you wish, click onto my Blog, "The Liming Liberal Digest" and go to the bottom of the right hand side bar and see all the directories and search engines I am on presently. http://thelimingview.blogspot.com/  Then, too, you can find something called "Ping-o-Matic" that will direct each new blog post to a number of search engines and Google has this "Ping" page where you can enter each new post and see it almost immediately sometimes and, if you have checked "Yes" in the settings of your blog where it asks if you want to allow search engines to find your posts, you are already covered for traffic purposes and you may not need all this additional stuff. It might also help if you have a "Feedburner" feed set up for your blog. I wouldn't despair too much over not being recognized as the "Author" by one web page aggregation. You know you are the author and if you are using Word Press or Blogger, they know you are the author--what difference does it make as long as your blog is being seen? I hope this helps.

Well, I see lots of people having the same problem and being aware of the same easy solution: to confirm through Facebook -or Google, or blogspot, or Wordpress,  or other places who the author of the different blogs is. Looks like that there are plenty of people who do not know how to work efficiently with the new tools.

Isabel, that was a bit snarky... honestly, I don't know why they felt the need to make this process such a PITA.  If I placed the code in my site, exactly where they said to, it should simply work. There shouldn't have to be a workaround.

This is what I found that works.  Oh and I'm using Wordpress. After installed the widget, I clicked the "Follow" button and signed up with my other facebook profile.  Then I went to verify and it worked.  I tried 3 times before and each time it didn't work.  I think just adding the widget doesn't "activate" it. 

1. Install Widget

2. Refresh the page

3. Click the Follow button your widget

4. Refresh the page

5. Go back to verify.

Please let me know if this helps people.

I've got no problem with installing the widget, but it doesn't work in terms of confirming that I own the blog. "Confirmation still pending" after three weeks.

You know what folks? You know who owns your Blogs, right? Just submit your content to Google for indexing  and then to as many free search engines as you can find. Once the crawlers see your stuff, you will start being seen. There is some good advice on getting your blog "Out There" on Blogger Help or Blog Forum. There is more help online at something called "Pro Blogger." There is a book that can be purchased called, "Blogging For Dummies" that will turn you onto all kinds of information about getting an expanding audience for your blog. Remember too it all takes time. The idea is to write often and to write quality stuff. Blogs require regularity and commitment. Submit your stuff to "Posterous," "Google,". "Linkd In," "Plugalink," "Ref Zip." Face Book." "Digg," "Plurk," "Zimbio," Twitter," "Google Reader," for starters.  These should give good results and are, at the time of this writing, free to use. Perservere and don't sweat the small stuff, right?

John the problem is not that I don't know I'm the author.   The problem is I'm not allowed to fix NetworkedBlogs syndication problems (like not pulling a thumbnail image) if I'm not considered the author by NetworkedBlogs.

Hi everyone it appears to be a big problem where verification is required, No theres no need for a Widget !,, It do not matter how many followers you may have, its who you sent the verification question to, as these are basically your key holders to have your Blog verified.. I think at first it asks for 3 or 4... to be safe send to 6 or 10... The verification goes out to the persons asked on F/B in the feed box, once they open this it asks for them to verify,, unfortunately it asks them to set up a Blog too,, I only recognised this as i have 5 accounts... I would imagine friends may turn this down as not wanting to set up a blog themselves... Im not too sure but if you are not verified you cannot comment on other blogs / or other than that you are annonymous. I don't know what I've done but it looks like I messed everything up and now I can't fix it! It says I have no blogs I write. On my blog's fb page it says the autor is a fb user. Me and my blog are 2 seperate things. the widget was installed. I do not have or can't find how to get to the home page with the edit details option! OK, so it seems that the only people (among my friends) who are even RECEIVING the requests to verify my ownership of a blog are people who are already using the Networked Blogs app. The others are ready and willing to verify but don't get the invitation. Vexing indeed.

Both my blogs seem to be networked but even with widget installed I can get them to verify that I am the author. Failing the widget verification I tried the e-mailing 5 friends and my friends do not show up in the box but if I want to invite friends they do. This has been hugely frustrating.

No one is going to verify something as stupid as this because I, even, know that I won't!  The widget is on my blog; which is only one page!  From reading the comments above mine, I can see that this is an ongoing NORMAL problem, that it NEVER verify!  So, what are you going to do about it?  This is my third attempt' and will be my last!  If nothing is done by this time TOMORROW, I am gone; so I hope that you are smart enough to have someone watching , and reading, these comments!  From the look of this list I see; I do not believe so!  This whole thing is ridiculous to me.  Look at the blog; as the person to post some secret message; so they can do it, and prove that they are the author!  Anything, but this stupid idea, that some lame brain, obviously, thought up!  It, obviously, doesn't work!  It is a waste of my time; and, obviously, yours, too, since you don't seem to change it, or do anything about it!
